"I love a good revival of classic theatre. Especially Pirates of Penzance. All the cast expressed their joy while performing which was felt by the audience throughout the whole performance. Everyone involved was spectacular! David Hyde Pierce was the main reason I came to see this show and did not disappoint. "

Reimagined Pirates is a thrilling experience
"Going to the theater is a major entertainment venue for me. Having seen the 'original' Pirates of Penzance a few years ago (and several times), I recently attended the 'reimagined' Pirates in NYC and found it to be just as entertaining and delightful as any of the times we've seen the original. Cast was exceptional and added a new vitality to the storyline. Well done!"

Outstanding in every way!
"What a thrill it was to see this production! Seeing David Hyde Pierce was the reason why we came from Charleston to see Pirates! It was well worth it, but the entire cast was electrifying. I have never heard such wonderful voices whether solo or all together. The costumes, the set changes, the dancing, I could go on..
If you have the opportunity to see Pirates! Go see it, you will not be disappointed! "

More than expected, amazing
"Everything about the show was amazing. I can’t believe it didn’t win more Tony’s I had to fight after the Tony’s to get anyone to want to see this with me because it wasn’t nominated more. David Hyde Pierce, exceptional, Sebastian, the general‘s daughter all of their singing was amazingly top notch!!! The stamina for everybody singing, to see tap, dancing, and I claped for joy. We giggled through the whole thing. I walked out at 10:30 at night feeling Jubilant. "

Loved it
"It was unbelievable. The cast had wonder voices and were just great dancers. So creative and I actually have tickets for next month. I can’t believe that it will end at the end end of July. Wish it could go on forever. The creative change to make it a New Orleans show instead of England was great. I laughed, clapped. Just lived it. Here is hoping the next generation learns about Gilbert and Sullivan and it doesn’t end with my generation."

Delightful lighthearted diversion
"Pirates was a welcome respite from daily stress. It’s colorful and funny, and the Gilbert and Sullivan music reconfigured in New Orleans style was wonderfully performed by the pit orchestra. The first act closing number is not to be missed. "

Absolute Delight!
"This show is so fun and funny and entertaining and a great revival of the musical. David Hyde Pierce when he appears as the General moves minimally yet commands the stage and of course Jinx Monsoon is fabulous!"

A refreshing update
"A refreshing update to a musical that has otherwise lost it's touch in the common era. Hilarious, especially with the updated humor, while still showing appreciation to the original music."

Great experience for my first ever Broadway show
"I loved the cast. All were outstanding, however I really enjoy everything David Hyde Pierce does. He’s the main reason we were drawn to this particular play. The orchestra was spot-on and the cast’s interaction with the audience was just great. All of the vocalists were amazing. "

Lots of fun!
"I really enjoyed this show a lot, and would be happy to see it again before it closes. I thought all the male leads and pirates were excellent. I thought the ladies were a little bit uneven. They made the character of Mabel a big vamp, and so when she later expressed her undying love to Frederic, I wasn’t quite sure if she was sincere. The production is beautiful and especially the big ensemble numbers are so much fun. Of course David Hyde Pierce is wonderful. Ramin Kamirloo is perfection. Go see the show if you get the chance."

A swashbuckling evening of Broadway fun!
"If you are looking for a show that is just fun, this is it. Setting G&S Pirates of Penzance in New Orleans created a unique and fun musical event and story with the lyrics being presented in an unusual way. The cast was obviously having the best time and that was shared with the audience. "

About
Pirates! The Penzance Musical
Ramin Karimloo, Jinkx Monsoon, and David Hyde Pierce lead the crew in Pirates! The Penzance Musical, this must-see Roundabout reimagining of The Pirates of Penzance. Scott Ellis (Doubt; Kiss Me, Kate) directs and Warren Carlyle (Harmony; Kiss Me, Kate) choreographs with a hilarious new adaptation by Rupert Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), musical direction by Joseph Joubert (Caroline, or Change), and orchestrations by Joubert and Daryl Waters (Memphis).
Gilbert & Sullivan’s pirate ship docks in New Orleans in this jazzy-bluesy vision of the crowd-pleasing classic, in an outrageously clever romp sizzling with Caribbean rhythms and French Quarter flair. With the tongue-twisting Major-General, the rabble-rousing Pirate King, newly-imagined young lovers, daring daughters, footloose pirates and fleet-footed police, there's a shipload of musical comedy delights on board to dazzle first-timers and G&S aficionados alike.
