What You'll Learn About

All About Stranger Things: The First Shadow

Stranger Things: The First Shadow takes audiences back to 1959, in a town called Hawkins that fans of the Netflix series are familiar with. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy...and the shadows of the past have a very long reach. The story of the Stranger Things prequel comes from a collaboration between original Stranger Things writer Kate Telfrey, show creators Matt and Ross Duffer (often referred to as the Duffer Brothers) and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child playwright Jack Thorne. TStranger Things: The First Shadow received its world premiere in London in 2023, where it received five Olivier nominations and was honored with the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. The production was honored with three 2025 Tony Awards, including Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play and Best Sound Design of a Play.
