After a disappointing holiday weekend, Broadway experienced a welcome rebound, with six shows grossing more than $1 million and five others topping $900,000, including a resurgent The Little Mermaid, which jumped more than $120,000 to $931,435 after announcing that the show must close on August 30. For the first time in recent memory, the top two spots in the frontrunner list according to capacity went to star-studded plays: Waiting for Godot (starring Nathan Lane and Bill Irwin), which ended its limited run at Studio 54 on July 12, and the smash hit God of Carnage.
