Broadway grosses dropped slightly in the final week of the spring season, with a few happy exceptions: The starry revival of Promises, Promises joined the million-dollar club and made its way onto the frontrunners’ list for grosses, joining The Addams Family and three long-running shows. The well-reviewed Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Fences, starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, did sellout business at the Cort Theatre, topping the frontrunners’ list for capacity and rising more than $50,000 from the previous week.
