Broadway vet Nicholas Wyman has been elected President of Actors' Equity Association. More than 6,500 votes were cast in the election, which also included 18 members being chosen to serve on the union’s National Council.
Wyman’s many Broadway credits include A Tale of Two Cities, Sly Fox, The Phantom of the Opera (Monsieur Firmin in the original production), Les Miserables, Doubles and My Fair Lady. An AEA member since 1974, Wyman has been a Councillor for more than 20 years, serving on several Production Contract negotiating teams, House Affairs and National Public Policy committees and chairing the Alien Committee. He has also served as a Pension and Health Fund Trustee for the last 10 years.
In the Eastern Region, Council seats went to Dana Ivey, Maureen Moore, Judy Rice, Wally Dunn, Scott Evans, Kristine Nevins, Craig A. Meyer and Joe Zaloom (in the Principal category for five year terms); Nicole Flender (four year term) and Jonathan Brody (three year term). Bill Bateman was elected in the Chorus category for a five year term and Ruth E. Kramer and Greg Hirsch were elected to the Stage Manager category for a five year term.
Actors' Equity Association, founded in 1913, represents more than 49,000 professional stage actors and stage managers nationwide.
