In the week leading up to the 2010 Tony Awards, the nominated musicals got a welcome box office boost. Although Memphis and Fela! didn’t make the frontrunners’ list, both shows posted six-figure gains from the previous week, and American Idiot also jumped almost $90,000 from the week before. Seven shows topped $1 million, including new hits The Addams Family, Promises, Promises and Fences, which set yet another box office record at the Cort Theatre with a total of $1,057,269. Meanwhile, Linda Lavin and Sarah Paulson played their final performance in Collected Stories at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
