Broadway box office numbers remained steady during a break in the New York heat, with family favorites continuing to lead the pack during prime summer vacation days. Wicked topped last week’s white-hot total of $1.72 million by just a hair, ending up at $1.74 million, while long-running Disney favorite The Lion King purred close behind at $1.6 million. Meanwhile, newcomers The Addams Family and Promises, Promises continued to stay strong, with the former logging $1.23 million at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre and latter pulling $1.14 million at the Broadway Theatre. Although not among the front-runners, A Little Night Music gained more than $100,000 from the previous week (to $543,076) on the strength of good reviews.
