Tony winner Sara Ramirez and TV personality Carson Kressley will host the firstever Broadway Takes the Runway: An Evening of Fashion and Song. The event, which is a benefit for the Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation, will take place at Touch Nightclub on October 4 and feature Ramirez and five other yet to be announced Broadway divas performing showtunes as they sport couture gowns specifically chosen by Kressley.
Ramirez is a Tony winner for her performance as the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot. She has also appeared in A Class Act, The Gershwin's Fascinating Rhythm, The Capeman and is well known for her work on TV's Grey's Anatomy. Kressley is best known as an original consultant on TV's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and can now be seen as the host of True Beauty.
Kressley and Ramirez founded the Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation in honor of their friend, actor and former Broadway.com employee, Al D. Rodriguez, who died of liver cancer in 2008. Rodriguez was seen in off-Broadway shows such as Born to Rumba, The King and English Only Restaurant, as well as the national tour of City of Angels. Rodriguez was also a web designer and the first video editor for Broadway.com when the site launched in 2000.
All proceeds from the evening will go to the foundation.
