Sondheim on Sondheim Eyes West End Run

Producer Sonia Friedman plans to hop Sondheim on Sondheim across the pond for a London run, according to Variety. Though there is no confirmed West End venue yet, Friedman says she aims to mount the show there in spring 2011. Part bio-play and part song revue, Sondheim on Sondheim includes more than two dozen Sondheim tunes and exclusive interview footage of the man himself, giving audiences an inside look at his life and work.

When the show bowed at Studio 54 in the spring, the cast included Broadway stars Barbara Cook, Tom Wopat, Vanessa Williams, Leslie Kritzer and Norm Lewis. Friedman hopes to entice a rolling cast of similarly starry musical theater names to the London production by casting limited engagements over the run.
