Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay may be following her husband, former War Horse cast member Peter Hermann, onto the Great White Way. Best known as New York City sex crimes detective Olivia Benson on the NBC television drama, the actress recently revealed she has her sights set on Broadway.
"It's been my secret dream to be on Broadway,” Hargitay, who recently showed off her singing and dancing skills in NBC’s Super Bowl “Brotherhood of Man” music video, told New York Magazine. "When they asked me to do it, they sent me the Amy Poehler clip, and she was killing it! I loved her! So I thought, 'Oh my God, Amy can sing, and I don't sing,' and I've never been more scared. So this is my foray.”
Despite her serious acting background, Hargitay boasts that she does have a flare for comedy. "We thought it would be funny if everybody else [from the SVU cast] was all in the squad room, all business, and I come out in an outfit, like full tails and a top hat, actually doing a musical number," she said of filming the "Brotherhood of Man" video. "That didn't fly."
Hargitay earned an Emmy Award for Law and Order: SVU as well as an additional seven nominations. Her other film and TV credits include Lake Placid, ER, The Single Guy and Leaving Las Vegas.
