Before the curtain went up for the opening night performance of Matilda, the cast gathered to observe a longstanding tradition: the awarding of the Gypsy Robe! On each Broadway show’s opening night, the Gypsy Robe is awarded to the chorus member who boasts the most Broadway credits. The illustrious recipient then circles the stage as company members touch the robe for good luck. The company of Matilda joined in on the ritual on April 11 to celebrate Nadine Isenegger, who was bestowed the honor of wearing the famous frock. Here, she shares the excitement with her fellow cast mates, including Bertie Carvel and Gabriel Ebert. Click below to see more photos from the celebration!
