Tony winning producers Alexander Fraser and Robyn Goodman will assume the leadership roles of Producing Director and Executive Producer respectively at the Bucks County Playhouse from January 2014. They will be replacing outgoing Producing Director Jed Bernstein, who announced earlier this year that he will be joining Lincoln Center For The Performing Arts as its next President.
In a statement, Bernstein said that having “Alex and Robyn as the new artistic leadership of the Bucks County Playhouse is like adding Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig to your team at the same time. I leave the Playhouse in the best new hands possible.” Fraser and Goodman said that they “look forward to serving the people of the Delaware River Valley by presenting the highest quality entertainment and providing a nurturing home for plays and musicals bound for Broadway and beyond."
Sherri and Kevin Daugherty, through their family foundation Bridge Street Foundation, provided the funding to acquire and renovate the New Hope, Pennsylvania property in December 2011. This 75 year old historic theatre, which had been sitting empty since late 2010, re-opened July 2, 2012 and now operates twelve months per year, hosting over 50,000 audience members in 2013. 2014 will see the Broadway transfer of the BCP production of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, starring Tyne Daly.
Fraser‘s Broadway, off-Broadway, West End and touring productions credits as a theatrical producer, general manager and nonprofit executive include Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart, Love, Loss and What I Wore, The Divine Sister, Bombay Dreams, Topdog/Underdog, Crazy for You, Jitney, Saturday Night, Jar the Floor, This is Our Youth and Ricky Jay & His 52 Assistants.
Goodman’s Broadway and off-Broadway producing credits include Cinderella, Avenue Q , In the Heights, Metamorphoses, West Side Story, Steel Magnolias, in the Park, The Performers, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, American Idiot, A Class Act, High Fidelity, Bat Boy, tick, tick...Boom!, Our Lady of 121st Street, Red Light Winter and Altar Boyz.
