A.R. Gurney’s Love and Money will have its world premiere during the 2015-16 Season. Directed by Mark Lamos, the comedy will play the Westport Country Playhouse before moving to off-Broadway’s Signature Theatre in August 2015. Casting and creative will be announced later.
In Love and Money, wealthy widow Cornelia Cunningham has led a life of grace and privilege—and she’s making up for it as fast as she can. Determined to donate almost everything she owns before the end, Cornelia’s plans are questioned when an ambitious and ingratiating young man, who may be the grandson she never knew she had, arrives to claim his inheritance.
Gurney is currently represented on Broadway with Love Letters and off-Broadway with The Wayside Motor Inn, which is playing at the Signature Theatre. His many other plays include Buffalo Gal, Crazy Mary, Big Bill, The Fourth Wall, Far East, Silvia, The Cocktail Hour, What I Did Last Summer and The David Show.
