Tony-Winning Weeds Star Mary-Louise Parker to Return to New York Stage in Heisenberg

Tony and Emmy winner Mary-Louise Parker will star opposite Kenneth Welsh in the world premiere of Heisenberg off-Broadway this spring. The play, penned by The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time scribe Simon Stephens, will begin performances on May 19 at Manhattan Theater Club’s New York City Center—Stage II. Mark Brokaw will direct the six-week limited engagement, which will officially open on June 3.

Parker received a Tony Award for her performance in Proof and was also nominated for Reckless and Prelude to a Kiss. She most recently appeared on Broadway in The Snow Geese. Her additional stage credits include Hedda Gabler and Bus Stop. She is best known for her portrayal of Nancy Botwin on Showtime’s Weeds; she has also appeared on screen in RED, Fried Green Tomatoes, Angels in America (for which she won an Emmy) and The West Wing. Welsh made his Broadway debut in The Inspector General; his additional Great White Way credits include Whose Life is it Anyway?, Piaf, The Real Thing, Social Security and The Little Foxes. He has also appeared on stage in Social Security, Curse of the Starving Class and Clair de Lune and on screen in The Day After Tomorrow, The Aviator and The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Amidst the bustle of a crowded London train station, Clare (Parker) spots Alex (Welsh), a much older man, and plants a kiss on his neck. This electric encounter thrusts these two strangers into a life-changing game.

The production will feature scenic design by Mark Wendland, with costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Donald Holder and original music and sound design by David Van Tieghem.
