The Donmar Warehouse and Ambassador Theatre Group are joining together to mount a big-budget revival of Guys and Dolls in the West End in early 2005. Donmar Artistic Director Michael Grandage will helm the production.
Guys and Dolls centers on zoot-suited gamblers, dashing con men and the beautiful show girls who love 'em. The musical features a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.
This will be the first major production of the musical in London since 1996, when Richard Eyre's 1982 National Theatre production was revived.
Guys and Dolls will be the first collaboration between the Donmar and the ATG to take place at a venue other than Donmar's own auditorium.
