Broadway.com has learned that Kate Reinders has won the part of Caroline in the upcoming Broadway production of Good Vibrations. Her leading man will be David Larsen, who will reprise the starring role of Bobby that he played in this summer's mounting of Good Vibrations at Vassar College.
Reinders is best known for playing Dainty June in the recent Broadway revival of Gypsy. She also understudied the role of Becky Thatcher in the Broadway production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and the roles of Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Rapunzel and Milky-White in Into the Woods. Among her other notable theatrical credits are the pre-Broadway runs of A Year With Frog and Toad and the recent premiere of the new musical Nerds at Vassar College.
In addition to the Good Vibrations premiere, Larsen's theatrical credits include the 2003 North Shore Music Theatre mounting of West Side Story and the 2001 mini-tour of Casper, starring Chita Rivera. Larson also had a recurring role on the TV's Boston Public.
Good Vibrations follows the romantic misadventures of a group of small-town teenagers on a life-changing odyssey to the promised land: the beaches of Southern California. It features music by Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys and a book by Richard Dresser.
Good Vibrations premiered at Vassar's Powerhouse Theater this summer, where it ran from July 29 through August 1. In addition to Larsen, that mounting starred Megan McGinnis who is committed to the upcoming Little Women as Caroline, Titus Burgess as Eddie, American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini as Jan, Julie Martell as Marcella, Julie Reiber who is in Brooklyn as Rhonda, David Resier as Dean and José Restrepo as Dave.
Good Vibrations, directed and choreographed by John Carrafa, is scheduled to begin previews at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on December 4 in preparation for a January 13 opening.
No casting has been officially confirmed for the Broadway production of Good Vibrations.
