Story

Tony nominee Taylor Trensch (Floyd Collins) stars as Edgar, a half-human, half-bat teen whose discovery in a cave sparks chaos in a small West Virginia town in Bat Boy: The Musical. When Edgar is taken in by the kind-hearted Meredith Parker—played by original 2001 cast member Kerry Butler (Heathers The Musical)—he embarks on a journey to win over a skeptical community with charm, grace, and a few unexpected dance moves. But as tensions rise and secrets unravel, the town must confront its own hunger for scapegoats. Is Edgar the monster they fear—or the mirror they refuse to face?

Inspired by a 1990s tabloid sensation, Bat Boy became a cult classic after its Off-Broadway debut in 2001. With a pop-rock score by Tony nominee Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde: The Musical) and direction by Tony winner Alex Timbers (Just In TimeMoulin Rouge!), this revival balances horror with heart, turning a tale of fear into a darkly comic story of belonging. Now, with expanded orchestrations and several brand-new songs by the original creators, this production delves deeper into the musical’s themes of identity, acceptance, and the healing power of love.
