The story behind the music
"I loved it from the moment I entered the theater. The set was very evocative of Old Havana. I've been listening to the album for years but didn't know the whole story behind it. How the album came about is very interesting. The singing and dancing are amazing and during the finale the woman seated next to me got up and danced in the aisle until the usher told her to go back to her seat."

"BVSClub was an amazing musical. To go further, my husband and sister saw the show twice.
From the opening scene to its closing scene -you will be definitely moving in your seat. The rhythm of Cuban music, musicians, singers, actors, story plot, dancers, costumes , you name it - were all stellar!
It was an incredible representation of semi- fictional story telling with actual tip top musical scores.
I felt like a young child in a candy store absorbing all the show’s excitement through my senses.

Havana Heat, Heart & Heritage - A Night That Stays With You
"Buena Vista Social Club was everything my Puerto Rican heart needed. From the very first note, the theater turned into a warm Havana night — rhythms, memories, laughter, heartbreak, all of it wrapped in music that felt alive. The live band was extraordinary. I used to sing in a band myself, and there is nothing like musicians who are truly playing from the soul — listening to each other, breathing together, making magic in real time. I felt that here.
The show moves between past and present, honoring the musicians who shaped a sound that carried across generations and borders. The performances were tender and powerful — especially Omara and Ibrahim — and the choreography felt like real Latin social dancing: grounded, joyful, culture first, not just choreography-for-show. It felt familiar. It felt like home.
And listen — Buena Vista Social Club recently performed in Durham, NC at the Carolina Theatre and I am still annoyed that I missed it! After seeing this musical, I’ll be watching tour dates like a hawk. I don’t plan to miss the next one.
For anyone thinking about bringing kids: this show is rich, emotional, and music-driven. It’s best appreciated by adults or older teens who can sit in the feeling of it. It’s not a big, high-energy Broadway spectacle — it’s a story with depth, history, and heart.
I walked out feeling full — full of rhythm, memory, pride, and gratitude for the artists who keep our cultural stories alive.

"One of the best shows I have ever seen and I am a regular Broadway goer. I bought the Buena Vista Social Club CD back in the late 90s when it first came out, so I have been a fan of the music for a long time.
