"My wife knew nothing about the Arthur Miller play which he wrote more than 75 years ago. She is the kind of theatergoer who prefers to know as little as possible before the performance. All I told her was two words: “dramatic” and “sad”. The cast was excellent delivering on both of these, emotional as Arthur Miller had probably ever intended. Each of the 4 accomplished lead actors nailed it !!!

"Have seen lots of shows in NYC but this is by far the best performance to date. Laurie Metcalf stole the show in my opinion, however Nathan Lane was right up there making the whole show come together. I would also like to say congrats to Christopher Abbott who did an outstanding job as Biff, especially in the near ending scene, pleading with his Dad. There actually were people crying in the audience.

Excellent staging and acting
"I was initially dubious about seeing this production as Death of a Salesman is one of my favorite plays and I couldn't imagine it remotely standing up to Brian Dennehy's production (and I saw Philip Seymour Hoffman's and frankly thought he was too young for the role). But after the reviews, I decided to see it yesterday and am so glad I did. Incredible acting--Lane, Metcalf and Abbott were amazing, but there was not a miss in the entire cast. And I loved the staging, having first wondered if it was too much of a departure. I cannot more highly recommend seeing it. The three hours from start to finish flew by."

Brilliant Adaptation w/ mesmerizing acting.
"Nathan Lane, Laurie Metcalf and Christopher Abbott lead a brilliant cast in the adaptation of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.
I can’t say enough about how beautiful and raw the performances are. Set in what looks to be a deserted warehouse, this haunting story stays with you long after you leave the theater.
Both Lane and Metcalf are at the top of their game. The rest of the cast does an amazing job keeping up with these two powerhouse actors.
It is heartbreaking, beautiful and haunting. The almost three hour runtime speeds by without ever letting up.
This show should be at the top of everyone’s ‘Must See’ list. "

The power of women
"I have never read this play nor ever seen it performed on stage before, so maybe I have a unique perspective. I was completely blown away with the entire production; the imagery, the characters, the story and the acting.
What stood out most for me was Laurie Metcalfe's performance of Linda. She expressed the gritty determination of a woman, behind the scenes, silently holding everything together. Guiding her sons to see beneath the surface bravado of their father and trying to save her husband from himself.
I was warned that the content was "depressing" but that is not the word that I would use. It makes you feel deeply and that is a good thing in a world that can sometimes feel, unfeeling."

"This is one of my favorite plays. I have seen the play with Brian Dennehy and the play with Wendel Pierce. Those were fine performances. However, I felt that this performance surpassed those two. I thought the simple set design with the car driven on and off the stage was brilliant. The performances by Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf were very moving. The interaction between Nathan and the actors playing his sons was intense. The cast as a whole was great. I highly recommend going to see this."
