Best Gypsy Ever!
"I've seen a number of Gypsys, including with Angela Lansbury, and this current Gypsy is the best by far. The actors and director have dared to give us real people instead of a lot of flat showbiz razzle dazzle. The choreography and dancing was phenonmenal. Every actor brought their character to full, vulnerable, love seeking life. Danny Burstein, Joy Woods, Jordan Tyson brought it in ways never brought before. Kevin Csolak was the Tulsa I have always wanted to see. And then there's Ms. Audra. She killed me at every turn. Her performance was a revelation. Here was Mama Rose, a real human being. Yes, there was perfect comic timing, but even more was the humanity she brought to Rose. Yes, Audra has a phenomenal vocal instrument - the technique of which served her mightily - but Audra is an actress of the highest order and for the first time ever, Rose's Turn made sense. There was no incomprehensible stumbling around on "Mama . . . mama . . ." That name was connected, and deeply. Audra's performance, indeed the entire production, is one I will recall as important the rest of my years. "

Audra's Gypsy is funny and raw
"Audra is fantastic! First, I am a HUGE Audra McDonald fan, and last night, I didn't disappoint. Her Rose was funny, abrasive, infuriating, and raw. Another Tony nomination is waiting, if not the win. Danny Bernstein and the rest of the cast were delightful, especially Danny. My heart broke for him as, again and again, Rose's ambition destroyed his dreams. Audra, however, ruled that stage. Five stars.
My only issue, which is the same issue I have with so many theatres, is the legroom. There is none. "
