Rachel Bloom, Dylan Baker and Brooks Ashmanskas Join Bill Irwin in The Imaginary Invalid on Broadway

The complete cast and design team are set for Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production of The Imaginary Invalid. Written by Molière, translated by Doug Skinner and adapted by Tony Award winner Bill Irwin, Brandon J. Dirden makes his Broadway directorial debut. Performances begin September 25 ahead of opening night on October 22 at the Todd Haimes Theatre. The limited engagement runs through November 22.

Joining the previously announced Irwin as Argan are Brooks Ashmanskas as Dr. Diafoirus/Purgon, Dylan Baker as Beralde, Golden Globe Award winner Rachel Bloom making her Broadway debut as Toinette, Hiram Delgado as Bonnefoy/Thomas/Fleurant, Crystal A. Dickinson as Beline, Daniel Croix Henderson making his Broadway debut as Cleante and Ava Lalezarzadeh as Angelique.

Ashmanskas is a three-time Tony Award nominee for Smash, The Prom and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. His other Broadway credits include Once Upon a Mattress, Sunday in the Park with George, Shuffle Along, Something Rotten!, Bullets Over Broadway, Promises, Promises and Present Laughter. Baker has appeared on Broadway in La Bête, Eastern Standard, Mauritius, November, The Audience, The Front Page, Bernhardt/Hamlet and God of Carnage. Bloom co-created, executive produced and starred in the CW musical dramedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, for which she won a Golden Globe, Emmy and Critics' Choice Award. Off-Broadway, she created and starred in Death, Let Me Do My Show, which was released on Netflix as Death, Let Me Do My Special in 2024.

Delgado made his Broadway debut in Take Me Out. Dickinson’s Broadway credits include Clybourne Park and You Can’t Take It With You. Henderson is known for the television shows Manhunt and Love, Victor. Off-Broadway, he appeared in The Public Theater's Much Ado About Nothing. Lalezarzadeh made her Broadway debut in English, and can be seen on television in Before and The Morning Show.

The Imaginary Invalid features set design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Karen Perry, lighting design by Allen Lee Hughes, sound design and original music by John Gromada, hair and wig design by Nikiya Mathis and movement direction by Lorenzo Pisoni.

Professional patient Argan indulges his every ailment, and schemes to marry off his daughter to a doctor to save on medical bills. But she has another life in mind. The Imaginary Invalid proves that real life is what happens while you and your family are making other plans.
