Tense, Fun, and Funny
"Loved this show. It's funnier than the movie, but still captures the tension. You really feel like you're in the bank with them at times. Jon Bernthal was amazing."

Better than the movie
"The play was well acted, a great set, a funny, dark comedic script with heart. As relatable today as it was in the 70’s. The audience was all in!"

Phenomenal Staging of a classic 70s New York Film
"The cast and the acting are amazing. This 50+ year-old story is still relevant and the play is updated here and there to make it even more so. More humor, intense emotional moments, and a warmer enveloping of the audience to bring them into the story as it develops. Highly recommend."

A True Classic Retold
"Loved that this classic movie was retold in a play setting. Loved the way they transitioned the scenes from outside/inside of bank. I have loved the movie with Al Pacino and to see it retold on stage was wonderful. Pivotal moments in the movie were added into the play and some funny scenes as well. I truly enjoyed the experience!"

Amazing
"I’ve seen a lot of shows over the past 30 years, but only one has truly stayed with me—Jersey Boys. This was my first Broadway show, and my first time experiencing one on Broadway itself, and it completely blew me away. Jon Bernthal’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. The entire supporting cast—Ebon, John, Jessica, and so many others—brought so much depth and energy that it made the whole experience unforgettable. It was powerful, moving, and something I’ll never forget. Bravo to everyone involved, and thank you for giving me such an incredible experience."

Best Play I've Seen in 10 years - Dog Day Afternoon
"This season of plays launching are star-studded and I am a fan of Bethernal. For that reason I went to see DDA as my 1st play of 2026. I took my wife and sat 9 rows from the front. The energy from the play radiated through the entire Orchestra seating. The set design rotates to give you a Cinematic feel to it. The show is a combination of Comedy, Action and Heart. This is the best play I've seen on Broadway in atleast a decade. If you sit Orchestra there is a level of Crowd Participation (I won't ruin the surprise). The Cast is full of ppl you know from TV that you recognize but don't know their names. It sincerely feels like you are watching a LIVE movie in action. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. "

Run do not walk to see this play!
"I went in with high expectations and not only did it not disappoint, it exceeded them. Brilliant choices for the actors. Great stage production and use of space. Really loved the music and it brought me right back to the 1970s. True to the movie. Honestly, one of the best plays I’ve ever seen."

Bernthal steals the show in this play based on a real-life botched robbery
"Just saw the play during the preview period on 3/14. Jon Bernthal has “Sonny” already locked-in despite only day 4 of preview performances. His talent shown on the screen is displayed exponentially live on stage. Set design was top notch and beyond creative. Humorous moments in the play had the entire audience laughing and the pop music interludes made transitions seamless. This is a must-see."

Jon Bernthal Nails It
"Attended the first preview on Tuesday 3/10 with my wife. Jon Bernthal as Sonny carried the performance and was spot on with his lines and pacing. The second act dragged a bit, and there are likely some small trims to be done to keep the pacing brisk."

Entertainment on many levels
"This movie was one of my all time favorites, so it was “must” to experience on Broadway. An added plus was seeing Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bacharach, from the Bear. The entire cast and their dynamic was engaging as well as the music and humor. "

First Ever Play
"Not sure how much id like a play. I love jon bernthal and ebon so i figured what could be bad. I don't think I couldve had a better time watching a show! The acting was great, everything was amazing. Just upset that it was my first ever play because nothing will be able to top it!"

More of an experience than a show
"I felt like I was transported back into time. The acting was superb and Jon reminded me so much of Al Pacino - his demeanor--his phrasing. The intermission was great- the audience was rockimg out to 70's music. And the best part was the actors come outside after the play is over and sign autographs!!!"

Fan of The Bear? Can't Miss
"Jon Bernthal & Ebon Moss-Bachrach are phenomenal actors whose best display was on the most recent special release episode of "Gary" for The Bear. To get to see them both in person this week playing off a classic New York movie thriller, similar to how Pacino & Cazale had acting history together before playing Sonny & Sal in the film, was very special. Really enjoyed the show, awesome acting and great set capturing the bank & outside. "

Amazing and beautiful
"My Son and I went to see a Dog Day Afternoon Broadway comedy show and My Son and I had an amazing time. The show was very funny and kept me laughing the whole time. The actors did a great job and had a lot of energy on stage. The audience was really into it, which made the experience even better. The theater atmosphere on Broadway was exciting and lively. My Son and I would definitely recommend seeing a comedy show if you want a fun night out. We would go again!"

About Dog Day Afternoon

Step back into the sweltering summer of 1972, New York City—a time when the Vietnam War looms large, Watergate headlines flood the news, and one man's desperate act captivates the nation.  A Brooklyn bank hold up quickly goes wrong, and with each gut-wrenching twist that unfolds, chaos ensues that ignites the city as they follow the actions of a man on the edge. Dog Day Afternoon is a raw, gritty reminder of what happens when passion and desperation collide.
