"The basic story is an old one, based on two Greek myths, but the way Anaïs Mitchell retells it makes it fresh and different. The acting and singing brought such life to the story, and Mitchell's music carried the themes beautifully. I think children might struggle with the themes of the show, but there was nothing lewd or frightening to concern parents. Definitely suggest middle school or older to understand the story. I have no complaints about the show at all and would see it again...if it were in another theatre (hot and uncomfortable, crammed seating)."

Recommend? Oh, you bet!
"Just an incredible experience from the moment the lights go down. The actor playing Hermes guides you through the Greek myth masterfully, and I don’t think the cast had a weak spot. I was a little iffy—I hate the Orpheus/Eurydice tragedy it’s based on—but the tragedy, while not soft-pedaled at all, does not detract from the enjoyment at all. The music drives the story, starting with a gospel rock/jazz feel and not really letting up even while going through plenty of other musical genres. Lighting and sets and sound all contribute. Add to all this the small-theater intimacy of Broadway, and it’s nothing short of amazing."
