Amazing!!!
"This was a birthday present from my two sons and the three of us saw it last Friday night! We sat in the front row and were totally mesmerized by the talented actors and beautiful music! It met all our expectations and more! The theater is just beautiful and very comfortable. While there is basically only one setting, the way the performers move and use it is amazing…and the orchestra is amazing too. I would highly recommend Hadestown on Broadway to everyone. Both of my sons said the same thing…it is almost life changing!"

"From the moment the show starts everything is perfect. The set, characters and lighting. And don’t get me started on the actual singing. Honestly, this might be the best show I have seen to date! And I have been to a lot of shows! "

Exceptional New Cast
"I did not see earlier casts in this long-running Broadway musical; however, I have a hard time believing any could exceed this tremendously talented ensemble. I don’t want to single out any particular performer, but Kurt Elling as Hermes and Jack Wolfe as Orpheus were beyond outstanding. I cannot believe this is Elling’s first Broadway show. His Hermes was weeping after Orpheus doomed Eurydice to the Underworld while singing the Road to Hell (reprise). Jack Wolfe was spectacular as Orpheus. His angelic voice suited the role perfectly and his performance of Wait For Me was riveting. The emotion in his face, the determination in his eyes, and the strength of his voice were spellbinding. Just two incredible moments during an unforgettable show!"

Timeless themes yet very present!
"Hadestown provides a most excellent and compelling exploration of such ancient themes as love, hope, home, family and, yes, even faith. Its five major characters are clearly delineated as the action gathers power, force and nuance. The explosive ending will blow you away. The jazzy, bluesy music and singing are terrific. The acting is great and the set and costuming are right on. This is one for the ages. Don’t you dare miss it!"

Stunning!!!
"This story is absolutely heartbreaking, and I am so glad this was my first ever Broadway show!!! I’ve loved the soundtrack for years, I’ve loved the myth since I was a child, and seeing Morgan Dudley and Jack Wolfe bring such a tumultuous story to life was nothing short of heart shattering. You know how it ends, and yet you begin it anyways. Kurt Elling and Rebecca Naomi Jones also absolutely killed it! Kurt Elling came out after the show and was so kind and fun! I missed out on getting Jack Wolfe’s autograph but I hope to see him in future productions regardless (hopefully a bit closer to Virginia next time lol). Fantastic and incredible show, highly recommend!!"

5th time viewing, each time FABULOUS.
"Possibly the best play ever written. Anaïs grew up reading D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Mythology (as did I, my children, & my grandchildren), and created an incredible storytelling experience of Orpheus & Eurydice. Every word, every note is exquisite, the new cast is phenomenal, the musicians give depth and beauty. Go see it! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be glad you did."

About Hadestown

Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. This acclaimed new musical by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always.

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales—that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone—as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, singers, dancers, and musicians, Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
