Fun, creative, insanely talented cast
"Who would have thought the story of an MI5 operations from WWII could be woven into a delightful musical? That’s Ooeration Mincemeat. Funny, clever, at times touching…it was a classic musical with a stellar cast."

a well done show
"The performers are extremely talented. They each play multiple characters and did so so seemlessly you would think there was a much larger cast. "

Great energy
"The actors’ timing was impeccable, which it had to be for such demanding roles. I had no trouble following the multiplicity of roles each actor played, which is more a credit to the actors than to me. “Dear Bill” deserves all the praise it has received. I had two objections. I had trouble understanding the lyrics of many of the songs, although the music as a whole was lovely. Second, the beginning of the second act was farcical, somewhat reminiscent of “Springtime for Hitler,” except it wasn’t funny. The ending was bizarre but ultimately satisfying. Finally, seeing the actors having such a fun time performing was worth the price of admission."

Wild and creative theatre
"A small cast of 5 creates suspense, chaos and insight into an incredible WWII deception. It's a wild and crazy ride that results in helping to win the War & tick Hitler. Great singing and acting! "

Smart, hilarious, irreverent, moving
"This is an extremely clever show about an actual historical event that is stranger than fiction. The dialogue, music, lyrics and choreography are all spot on and the cast are incredibly talented. Starts off a little slow but ends with a bang. Highly recommend."

Great fun!
"My husband and I saw this musical at yesterday’s matinee. I loved it and had a rollicking good time. My husband, however, did not care for the English style of farce. I mention this because while it is a lot of fun, the style of humor is not for everyone. Just something to consider. "

Clever, comic history
"While based on actual history, Operation Mincemeat shared of folks doing their bit for the war with their own tics and isms, with almost slapstick, clever humor, some kitsch, and a few poignant moments. Great fun!"

Real History!
"The actors were superb. The dialog was so clever and funny. One issue--because the dailog was so quick it was difficult to understand. Others in the audience felt the same way. "

Operation Mincemeat. Strange title but great show!
"The players, only 5 of them, played multiple parts, both male and female and were spectacular. The show was bright and funny, and I would recommend it to anyone with a sense of humor."

Amazing Performance Only Marred By Sound
"That five actors showed so such versatility and energy over the length of the musical was impressive. Our only complaint was it was hard to understand the words of the early songs. It was if the mics were off or orchestra too loud."

A lovely broadway experience
"Though I am not particularly fond of musicals, I found OM to have an extremely talented crew of 5 actors/ dancers/ singers were they all! It had charm and an old fashion fun feel to it"

Loved it but missed some of it
"I loved the play. The singing, dancing and versatility of the actors was amazing. I had some difficulty understanding much of the language. A synopsis of the play would have been helpful. "

Similar to Hamilton but…
"It’s similar to Hamilton in the way that there is a lot of rap and fast talking, however, each song sounds the same with exception of Dear Bill. Imagine someone said to you, “Sing a broadway sounding song!” then you can imagine the music in this play. However, Dear Bill, was so powerful that grown men were shedding tears. The plot is fun and the end is ridiculously hilarious. I truly enjoyed the show through and through. It’s just the music that is not up to par. The beginning of the second act is wonderful. Still laughing at that joke. "

Slow to start but got better and better…
"It was a little confusing to begin - with men playing women’s roles and vice versa, seemed somewhat slapstick. The first half ended with ‘Dear Bill’ - and this performance was even better than the original recorded version. The show finished strong and was thoroughly enjoyable. Well done to all."

Entertaining Light Weight Fare
"Nice production. Small cast. Effective. Unnecessary song to open up Second Act was distractingly obvious. Different than usual Broadway fare. Only one song was memorable. "

Slow start Glitzy finale
"Great performance and staging by five people. The interactions between the actors is a the reason to go to see live performances. The initial part of act 1 is slow as they build the story and picks up considerably before intermission. Act 2 is an energizing funny ride. Buy your tickets - be sure to see this group!!!"

An enjoyable show that takes history to the stage.
"If you are a history buff, enjoy British humor, and want to see how 5 actors/actresses (most of them are from the original London cast) pull off multiple characters, then this show is for you. They were all very good, but one actor in particular stood out - Tony Award winner Jak Malone. I can see why he won a Tony for his performance, and he helped carry the show. I came into the show not knowing that 4 out of the 5 actors were from the original cast or that Mr. Malone already earned a Tony for his performance. Well deserved. I enjoyed it very much but found it difficult to understand what they are saying or singing about. I think it would be helpful for the Playbill to provide the main story points for each act. Overall, thank you to the actors/actresses, and everyone behind the scenes who provided an entertaining and enjoyable evening. All the best for continued success."

If you like it over the top--
"This show is exciting, but way over the top. Its subject is a wartime deception scheme, so it's understood things will be confused, but with five actors/actresses playing multiple indeterminate roles, both male and female (the cast lists an actor, his/her character, then "and others"), I found it absolutely impossible to follow. The production seems designed more to confuse and overwhelm than to present a good yarn. If you want to be regaled (overwhelmed?) with noise, movement, and excitement, and don't care so much about actually "getting" the plot, this show will do the trick. The production's timing and execution were impeccably perfect--but by the time it was over, my brain felt like mincemeat."

Good not great
"This was no Hamilton. Casting was questionable with some performers not projecting as fully or clearly as they should have. Slap stick comedy was enjoyed by some in audience but I found a little tedious. The story was good and play well conceived but just thought execution was weak and a little confusing."

Fun, but at times I struggled to hear the lyrics/dialogue
"I did have a good time, but felt like there were times when the lyrics were getting buried and I was left trying to guess what each character was saying. It was fun, but sometimes difficult to follow."

About Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical

The year is 1943 and right now we’re losing the war. Luckily, we’re about to gamble all our futures on a stolen corpse.

Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train, Operation Mincemeat is the fast-paced, hilarious and unbelievable true story of the twisted secret mission that won us World War II.

Bursting at the seams with the kind of chaos you couldn’t invent, the question is: how did a dead body, a fake love letter, and - of all people - Ian Fleming come together to wrong-foot Hitler?
