Mixed Feelings
"I really wanted to like this show. I had so looked forward to it. I liked Christiani Pitts very much. She is a great actress and has a beautiful voice. Some of the “ballads” were beautiful. The first act there was just not enough story, movement for me; just kind of entertaining. Did get better the second act, much more development of story. There were 2 things that really bothered me. Let me say I am hearing impaired, which possibly added to my problems with the show. However, I go to shows all the time and don’t experience the problems I had with Two Strangers. First, Sam Tutty talked so fast I had trouble understanding him. I did not have that problem with Christiani at all. Second the orchestra was far too loud made it difficult to hear the vocals. I would like to add that I had excellent seats, Row 4, right in the center and I had a hearing device. "

I wish
"I really wanted to like this production. I went into it no real information outside of the synopsis and commercials I had seen. Unfortunately, the plot line was dull. The staging was boring, and the music was unremarkable. "

Cliche
"Fine talent. Impressive that they held the show for two hours, but the writing was boring and unoriginal. Some songs felt like AI slop. The set felt overly and unintelligently simplified. It wasn't worth the ticket."

Not a Broadway worthy show
"While the performers had nice singing voices, the show was lackluster. It reminded me of a summer camp musical. Not worth the price of a Broadway ticket. "

About Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)

Fall in love with New York City again, or for the first time, at Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), now on Broadway. A New York Times Critics’ Pick, Two Strangers is “an effervescent new musical comedy that delivers lavishly on laughter, escape, and fantasy.”

You’ll meet Dougal, an impossibly upbeat Brit who has just landed in New York City for the first time to attend the wedding of the father he’s never met. And you’ll meet Robin, the sister of the bride and a no-nonsense New Yorker with a lot of errands to do for the bride—including picking up the groom’s estranged son from the airport. These two strangers begin their journey together navigating New York City, secrets, and second chances.

The Boston Globe proclaims, Two Strangers is “IRRESISTIBLE! Clever, funny, and delightfully surprising!”, and it has been named on the Best of 2025 lists from USA Today, Entertainment Weekly and New York Theatre Guide.

For lifelong New Yorkers and first-time visitors alike, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) sparks a renewed sense of wonder for the city, in what The Wall Street Journal’s Charles Passy hails as “a thoroughly beguiling ode to the Big Apple!”
