Comedy with Layers: Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York
"What an absolute delight! This show was laugh-out-loud funny from start to finish, with sharp writing and perfectly timed humor that kept the audience engaged throughout. The chemistry between the leads was electric—Sam Tutty and Christiani Pitts were nothing short of fantastic. Tutty brought a charming awkwardness that made his character instantly lovable, while Pitts delivered a vibrant, heartfelt performance that balanced comedy with genuine emotion. The pacing was spot-on, and the quirky premise unfolded in a way that felt fresh and unpredictable. It’s rare to find a production that combines humor, heart, and originality so seamlessly, but this one nails it. If you’re looking for a feel-good, hilarious night at the theater, Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York is a must-see!"

A Two-Person Phenomenon!
""Two Strangers" is a funny feel-good show that definitely pulls on your heart-strings! It does contain adult themes, the set design is amazing and creative, but minimal. I would leave the children at home for this one. The songs are powerful and moving, and many have quickly become earworms around our house! This show is fantastic and surprising, even though there are only 2 actors. I would definitely recommend it to a friend."

My first Broadway show
"This was my first experience seeing a show on Broadway and I was not disappointed. The actors were great, loved the songs, and was pleasantly surprised at the size of the venue (I assumed they were all huge). I would definitely recommend this show."

Vert talented actors
"The acting, singing, and dancing were great. I did have some trouble hearing the lyrics especially when they were rapping. The sound in my audio headset was a bit garbled. Some very funny scenes and great for native New Yorkers."

About Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)

Fall in love with New York City again, or for the first time, at Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), now on Broadway. A New York Times Critics’ Pick, Two Strangers is “an effervescent new musical comedy that delivers lavishly on laughter, escape, and fantasy.”

You’ll meet Dougal, an impossibly upbeat Brit who has just landed in New York City for the first time to attend the wedding of the father he’s never met. And you’ll meet Robin, the sister of the bride and a no-nonsense New Yorker with a lot of errands to do for the bride—including picking up the groom’s estranged son from the airport. These two strangers begin their journey together navigating New York City, secrets, and second chances.

The Boston Globe proclaims, Two Strangers is “IRRESISTIBLE! Clever, funny, and delightfully surprising!”, and it has been named on the Best of 2025 lists from USA Today, Entertainment Weekly and New York Theatre Guide.

For lifelong New Yorkers and first-time visitors alike, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) sparks a renewed sense of wonder for the city, in what The Wall Street Journal’s Charles Passy hails as “a thoroughly beguiling ode to the Big Apple!”
