David Byrne and the Cast of American Utopia Perform 'Toe Jam' and 'Once in a Lifetime' on SNL

David Byrne, the two-time Grammy-winning recording artist whose theatrical concert America Utopia was a breakout hit on Broadway last fall, performed on Saturday Night Live February 29. Byrne and the show’s cast sang two numbers from the show, “Toe Jam” and “Once in a Lifetime.” American Utopia closed on Broadway in February, but two exciting headlines have kept the show animated: Spike Lee announced that he will direct a film adaptation of the show, and, after a sold-out four-month run that chose not to seek Tony eligibility, American Utopia will return next fall and winter for a return staging at the Hudson Theatre.
