Laura Osnes — Nominee for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical

Bonnie & Clyde

Real life outlaw Bonnie Parker, who dreamed of movie fame but instead became infamous as half of one of America’s most notorious criminal duos.

Bio Brief:
Osnes won her first Broadway role playing Sandy in Grease on reality casting show You’re The One That I Want!. She went on to star as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific and Hope Harcourt in the Tony-winning revival of Anything Goes before originating Bonnie & Clyde on Broadway.

Other Honors for this Role:
— Audience Choice Award nomination for Favorite Actress in a Musical
— Audience Choice Award nomination for Favorite Onstage Pair (with Jeremy Jordan)

Tony History:
This is Osnes’ first Tony nomination.

Fun Fact:
Osnes and her husband, Nathan Johnson, met while they were understudying the leading roles in Aladdin at the Children’s Theater Company in Minneapolis. Sparks flew after an onstage accident sidelined the stars, and Osnes and Johnson were thrust on stage together on a moment’s notice.

Quotable Quote:
“I’ve kind of become known on Broadway as the sweet innocent ingénue, because obviously Sandy, Nellie and Hope are all naïve and innocent. With Bonnie it’s a completely different color that I get to play. With Sandy I got to have a little flair in that final scene [of Grease], but this is sexy Sandy the whole way through!” —Osnes in an interview with, 12/11
