About Cats: The Jellicle Ball on Broadway

Everything you need to know about the show.

The Story

Come one, come all – The Jellicle Cats are having a BALL. Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Andrew Lloyd Webber's worldwide phenomenon CATS is reimagined in a production that smashed records, won awards and left New York City purring. And now CATS: The Jellicle Ball ascends to Broadway in a kaleidoscope of glittering spectacle, iconic music and electrifying ballroom choreography that The New York Times calls “a lightning strike that sets joy free!

Broadway meets Runway in the fiercest event of the season, directed by Obie Award winners Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, with choreography by Obie Award winners and New York City Ballroom legends Omari Wiles (House of Ricci) and Arturo Lyons (House of Miyake-Mugler). Don’t miss this “sexy celebration of love and resilience” (
New York Daily News) and “the most exhilarating fun that can be had in the theater” (The Washington Post).

Why is it closing??
"Genuinely a ground breaking show! For those who are true fans of the original, they will love this take on the work! I thought this was the high energy, interactive ingenuity that broadway NEEDS to continue to thrive. I do not understand why it’s closing. The talent of the cast -OVERFLOWING. The score, set, costumes, staging just all dazzled and nothing was “chopped.” Genuinely took an old work that was brilliant, paid homage so respectfully, and added deep new meaning that left all eyes wet even beyond “Memory.” Thank you genuinely to the entire team for making this art; I will be forever grateful I saw it. The best show I've seen this year
"Purrrrrrrfect A celebration of joy, inclusion, art, energy - what an outstanding and uplifting re-imagining of the original Cats. The whole cast is outstanding and I found myself listening to the original cast recording since (patiently waiting for this production to release their own recording). Theatre at its best!"

This show is closing?!?!
"I treated myself to stage seat tickets for my birthday this past Wednesday and when I tell you, I have not been able to take my mind off this show. Every aspect of it is captivating and draws you in closer. The cast is legitimately full of all stars who make this production what it is. Will definitely be purchasing a ticket before the show closes in August. Truly criminal that that’s the case, and PLEASE Broadway, PBS, someone please do an official recording of this production or a cast album! This show is too precious to not immortalize!"
