About Waiting For Godot on Broadway

Everything you need to know about the show.

The Story

Directed by Olivier Award-winning and Tony®-nominated visionary Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Blvd., A Doll’s House, Betrayal), this exhilarating, hilarious, and deeply human new production of Samuel Beckett’s self-proclaimed “tragicomedy” asks all of life’s big questions—and answers none of them. It’s ridiculous! Life, and this play. But the wait is worth the wait.

First Broadway Show - Fantastic
"This was my favorite play in high school, and I mostly forgot about it the last 30 years. But then I saw that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter were doing it and thought, I have to see this. It motivated me to come to NYC for a show finally and did not disappoint! I remembered why I loved it in high school (I was really into existentialism at the time), and to experience it with one of my favorite actors (Reeves) was amazing!! I hope they run it again--I would definitely come see it a second time!!"

Deep
"This is not a song and dance play. It's a deep dialogue play, and Alex Winter & Keanu Reeves nailed their performance. Bravo!"

The Best Show About Nothing… and Somehow Everything
"A brilliantly absurd evening where two men wait, complain, banter, and wait some more — proving that the journey to nowhere can be unexpectedly hilarious, strangely profound, and sneakily emotional. If you’ve ever felt stuck in life, this play will make you laugh at the absurdity of your own timeline. A balance of silliness and soul-searching. The dialogue snaps, the humor lands, and the emptiness somehow feels full. Perfect for anyone who loves their theatre with a side of philosophy. A charmingly chaotic ride through banter, boredom, and big questions. The humor is dry, the pacing intentional, and the payoff is the realization that the show is less about Godot and more about us."

Maybe read the play first to know what you are getting in to.
"I loved the energy of the show, and the set design. I think it would be helpful for those who never read the play to do some research to know what to expect. This play can get deep. But that’s what makes it so good!"

Fresh minimalistic restaging
"I thought that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters long standing chemistry worked to convey the comedy in the absurdist themes, with a very strong supporting cast. I liked the minimalist staging without props while i know others found it distracting. I was pleased to see this work introduced to a new generation."
