Six-time Emmy® Award winner and Tony Award® nominee Jean Smart returns to Broadway for 12 weeks only in a tour-de-force portrayal of a writer whose words are her greatest gift, her biggest secret, and her only way out. Written by Jamie Wax and directed by Sarna Lapine, Call Me Izzy is a can’t-miss theatrical event and a moving portrait of one woman’s refusal to be silenced through her own sheer tenacity, humor, and fiery imagination.

Jean Smart's Uncanny Talent
"Jean Smart embodied Izzy to the point where the audience was no longer mesmerized with Smart. Her ability to make each audience member believe she was talking directly to them underscores Smart's talent, which definitely puts her among the icons."

Absolutely amazing
"I’ve never been to a one actor show before but I’ve always been a huge fan of Jean Smart. I knew nothing about the show and read just a brief synopsis of it ahead of time. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a lone actor and such a limited set, but the story was so compelling and she absolutely owned the stage. She drew you in with her emotion and story telling. Jumping in and out of current story line and precious memories… It was an absolutely captivating performance and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to see this show and to see it with Jean Smart."

Beyond incredible!
"Saw the show last night and it was INCREDIBLE!! Jean Smart is BEYOND AMAZING! The rollercoaster of emotions, the suspense, the laughter, the compassion…we were all captivated, hanging on her every word. The theatre at times erupted in laughter and at other times you could hear a pin drop. AND she did it all by herself…obviously she had a crew, etc but it was a one-woman show and she never wavered once. Plus still recovering from knee surgery. I’ve seen a lot of shows but this one was maybe the best I’ve ever seen. One of the best decisions I’ve made. ♥️♥️♥️"

Brilliance at its best
"Jean Smart can do it all. The story brings out emotions that the audience feels as deeply as is presented by the actress. Even with a physical problem, Smart so cleverly uses this and her presentation is stellar. Kudos to the writer and to the actress!!"
