About Sunset Boulevard on Broadway

Everything you need to know about the show.

The Story

Haunted by her memories and dreams, movie star Norma Desmond yearns to return to the big screen. A struggling screenwriter who can’t sell his scripts to the Hollywood studios may be her only hope, until their dangerous and captivating relationship leads to disaster. Drenched in champagne and cynicism, Sunset Boulevard focuses the lens on the ambitions and frustrations of its characters and puts their intoxicating need for fame and adoration in stark close-up.

Best show on Broadway
"Nicole Sherzinger was absolutely amazing in the role of Norma Desmond. Her voice, as a singer, is also spellbinding. We just got home (Kansas) and watched the 1951 movie which helped me understand the story better and realize that Nicole’s gestures were sort of an over-the-top spoof. Nicole was SO good, she put this over beautifully. I HOPE this is turned into a movie for Nicole!! The audience reaction was SO warm and positive. EXCELLENT job!"

Haunting, Hypnotic, and Sublime: “Sunset Blvd” Redefines Revival
"Jamie Lloyd’s Sunset Blvd is a ghost story told in stark shadows and spotlight, and it’s unlike any revival you’ve seen before. Stripped of old-Hollywood glamour, this production leans into noir minimalism: projected shadows, mirrored illusions, and light that cuts like a knife. It’s at once harrowing and hypnotic. At the center of it all is Nicole Scherzinger, delivering a performance that’s both vocally ravishing and emotionally volcanic. Her Norma Desmond is no camp caricature. She’s tragic, terrifying, and devastatingly human. Scherzinger’s voice is a revelation: aching, precise, and impossibly pure. Her rendition of “As If We Never Said Goodbye” itself is worth the price of admission. Pierre Marois lends Joe Gillis a smoldering restraint, grounding the surreal with a sense of inevitability. The chemistry between Scherzinger and Marois crackles, building a slow-burn tension that unspools into inevitable ruin. This Sunset Blvd doesn’t retread; it reimagines. It’s a fever dream of fame, delusion, and loss, rendered with bold theatrical discipline. A triumph of form and feeling, and an unforgettable night at the theatre."
