The Story

This classic coming-of-age story takes you to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, where Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their family of Greaser “outsiders” dream about who they want to become in a world that will never accept them. Better than I expected!

"This was my granddaughter's (14 year old) pick for our trip to NYC. I had a basic idea of the plot but she had the book. She loved it and it was better than I expected. Some of the special effects—the rain, the slow motion fight scenes, really added to the performance. As far as it being appropriate for children, there is a reference to suicide but it was handled with discretion. For that reason I'd recommend it for older children. "
