About Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)
on Broadway
Everything you need to know about the show.
Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) is an uncommonly surprising musical about finding common ground. Tony Award® nominees Sam Tutty and Christiani Pitts star as Dougal and Robin, an unlikely pair who spend three life-changing days together in NYC. With a score of instant classics and a story that’s equally hilarious and heartfelt, Two Strangers is a completely original musical that “achieves something magical” (Vulture).
You’ll meet Dougal, an impossibly upbeat Brit who has just landed in New York City for the first time to attend the wedding of the father he’s never met. And you’ll meet Robin, the sister of the bride and a no-nonsense New Yorker with a lot of errands to do for the bride—including picking up the groom’s estranged son from the airport. These two strangers begin their journey together navigating New York City, secrets, and second chances.

A perfect rom com
"This show encapsulates everything I love about rom coms and musicals. The moments that became songs were so spot on. The story was full of fun twists and surprises. Actors were incredible, the set and lighting design was inspirational. I think anyone who enjoys rom coms would enjoy this show, even if they're not fans of musicals."

Second time seeing it
"I think this show is fantastic. It’s witty, charming and perfectly captures the ennui of early adulthood in our modern world. I love seen it twice and love the earnestness of the main characters. Despite reasons to be cynical, they fine hope and meaning in a city that never sleeps. The second time I saw it, I brought my 10 and 12 year old kiddos. They both enjoyed it. "

I saw the play Sunday, the 11th, with two of the understudies. They were perfection . Great voices and wonderful performances !!!!

Best Musical I’ve Seen in YEARs
"WOW! This show was just so incredible. Such a simplistic and not over the top staging, just TWO actors which I’ve never experienced before but it was perfect. You truly felt as if you were on this journey with them. The show was hilarious and heart wrenching. I had full body chills so many times throughout the show. It is so sad that this is closing in November 2026 - this should not be happening. Everyone MUST go see this. "
